The test assesses appearance, colour and consistency, examines the sample microscopically for parasite eggs, larvae and protozoa, and evaluates red cells, undigested food and inflammatory cells.

Why does the sample need to be delivered quickly?
Cells and parasite larvae deteriorate over time, making them harder to find. Delivering the sample within 1-2 hours, or refrigerating it in the meantime, improves accuracy.
What happens if parasites are found?
A doctor will usually prescribe treatment matched to the organism found. Please consult the clinic so we can advise on treatment and hygiene measures.
